Boeing execs to speak to investors from North Charleston plant

All ears will be on Boeing South Carolina Wednesday morning as the company’s top executives address investors from the North Charleston 787 plant.

CEO Jim McNerney and finance chief Greg Smith, along with the bosses of the company’s commercial airplanes and military units, will speak during a three-hour presentation to investors and analysts at the local factory complex and via webcast to anyone with an Internet connection.

The program is scheduled to run from 7:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. and can be heard by clicking here. The men are expected to talk about the return of the 787 to service after a three-month battery-related grounding, the planned production rate increases for that model and the upcoming launch of others, and the booming global commercial market and tight U.S. defense market, among other topics.

Wednesday morning is the most public portion of the otherwise private conference, which also has included tours of the two-year-old 787 final assembly building and adjacent factories.

Coming on the heels of a major local expansion announcement, the annual event’s placement in North Charleston is yet another indication of Boeing South Carolina’s rising profile within the Chicago-based aerospace giant.
